QuISco (Network for Quantum Information Research in Scotland) is delighted to announce its inaugural meeting on Thursday 27th March 2008 to be held at the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh.
The aims of QuISco are to promote a research community of physicists, computer scientists and mathematicians in Scotland, to encourage a dialogue amongst the diverse spectrum of disciplines, and facilitate collaboration.
Our keynote speakers are Prof. Stephen Barnett FRS (Strathclyde) and Prof. Samson Abramsky FRS (Oxford) who will present an overview of the field from both Physics and Computer science perspectives, followed by more focused talks from each QuISco site: Elham Kashefi (Edinburgh), John Jeffers (Strathclyde), Simon Gay (Glasgow), Erika Andersson (Heriot-Watt) and Natalia Korolkova (St Andrews).
There will also be a poster presentation session which will be an opportunity for students and early stage researchers to disseminate their works.
Registration for the meeting is free. Please email by Wednesday 19th March 2008 your attendance and poster abstract (if presenting) to Elham Kashefi (ekashefi at inf.ed.ac.uk). Travel support is available for students and early stage researchers, please provide details of your request with your registration.
We emphasise QuISco will target a wide range of the audience and not just specialists in the field and we would hope you will support this initiative by your attendance.
The organising committee: Erika Andersson, Simon Gay, Elham Kashefi, Daniel Oi
