The Royal Observatory Edinburgh Workshop 2008

You are invited to attend the Royal Observatory of Edinburgh's annual workshop, this year entitled "Habitability in Our Galaxy". Sessions are focussed around:

1. Exoplanets: observation, habitability, and future ground- and space-based projects

2. Solar System: life in the Solar System, current and future missions to Solar System objects

3. Origin and Prospects for Life: signatures of life, extraterrestrial life (including SETI), early life, and life in extreme environments

As part of the programme, a Public Lecture will be given by Prof. Monica Grady (Open University) on the 8th October 2008 at Our Dynamic Earth.

Registration for the meeting is free for graduate students.

Invited speakers include: Monica Grady (Open University), Simon Conway Morris (University of Cambridge), Jane Greaves (Univ. of St-Andrews), Andrew Cameron (Univ. of St-Andrews), Don Pollacco (Queens University, Belfast), John Parnell (Univ. of Aberdeen), Helen Fraser (Strathclyde University), Bob Nichol (Univ. of Portsmouth).

Oral and poster contributions to the programme are solicited. Please email workshop2008 @ roe.ac.uk to register your interest. Further details will appear on the ROE website in early August.
