What is SUPA?
SUPA is the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance. It is a research alliance between the physics and astronomy departments of eight Scottish universities.
SUPA has an About Us page and a press pack. Both of these resources are useful sources of information and contain passages you can safely copy and paste.
There are many documents from the planning stages of SUPA I still in circulation but these may contain outdated or incorrect information. -
Who is in SUPA?
A SUPA member is any member of staff (including admin, technical, computer and honorary staff and research students) employed in a physics or astronomy department of a SUPA university.
Most SUPA members are in the SUPA database with the exception of most technical staff and some computer officers. Technical staff and computer officers may have My.SUPA accounts if they use SUPA services, or provide SUPA with services (e.g., VC room support) or they request an account.
The database of all My.SUPA account holders is made available to members via the participants list of the SUPAmail communications area.
There are about 1500 My.SUPA account holders. 1250 of these account holders are SUPA members.
How can a new member get an account? http://www.supa.ac.uk/Graduate_School/account_request.php -
What are the SUPA Themes?
For a definitive list, please see http://www.supa.ac.uk/Research/Research.htm
Everyone should be in at least one theme except for administrative and technical staff.
