Astronomy & Physics Education Group Celebration

Dear colleagues.

It has been five years – give or take the odd pandemic – since the Astronomy and Physics Education group launched at the University of Glasgow, and we thought we should celebrate this occasion.

On Wednesday 29th October 2025 (1300-1630) we will be hosting a Physics Education Research event on campus at the University that will highlight the work of the group, the work of the wider PER field, and provide an opportunity for people to make contact with potential collaborators for their own work.

We would be delighted if you were able to join us for this event.  It doesn’t matter if you are a PER expert seeking your latest inspiration, PER novice taking your first steps int the field or complete PER ignorant just trying to find out what this whole “PER” thing is anyway – all you need is an interest in how the educational side of our discipline works.

To allow us to plan for catering (and make sure the room is big enough!) please use the link below to indicate your intention to attend.

Best wishes,

The APE Group

Peter

It looks like we need to sign in to Glasgow to use the link. Is there any way you can make it open access?

Dear All,

As you know, we are celebrating the 5th birthday of our Glasgow Astronomy and Physics Education group on the 29th of October (1300-1630). If you would like to join us, please register at https://forms.office.com/e/YJwDaSQ90M (if you haven’t already done so).

We will be running the event in Studio 2 of the Advanced Research Centre (ARC) on the Gilmore Hill Campus. If you are not familiar with the University, just enter “Advanced Research Centre” in the “Find a Building” box at https://www.gla.ac.uk/explore/maps/

We're inviting contributions in the form of a lightning-talk pitch (2-3 slides, up to 5 minutes) for collaboration projects and/or thoughts on the future (of APE, of Physics Education Research, of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning). If you would like to propose something, please email me (Nicolas.Labrosse@glasgow.ac.uk) and Peter (Peter.Sneddon@glasgow.ac.uk) soon, and ideally by Friday 17th October.

We will be providing teas and coffees, but we’re an “after lunch” event so you may want to enjoy the delicious food of the west end before you join us.

Hoping to see many of you on the 29th!
